The band originated from, and plays at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, North Chicago, IL. in Stress Disorder Programs to unlock suppressed talents and expressive arts of veterans suffering from PTSD ( Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).  It was through these programs that several veterans and guest musicians met. The music and lyrics are all written and composed by members of the group from personal experiences, the love of their fellow veterans, the hardships and desperations of loved ones, family and friends.

Adam E., Pat Kiel, Brian Gruselle, John Laws, John Stelzer, Greg Garcia, Tom Vanden Avond, Doug Daniels, Steve Cooper, Adam Plamann

Described by the Toronto Blues Society as a gutsier Blood, Sweat, and Tears crossed with Delbert McClinton, the Groove Hogs have spent the past 15 years continually redefining themselves through the release of four records and non-stop touring. While horn-fueled intensity endures as the band's axiom, the Groove Hogs continue to meld influences of blues, soul, and rock with their own, road-worn experience.
Whether the band is touching on funky classics from Tower of Power, Sly and the Family Stone, or Sam and Dave, or careening through a set of original music, the energy is infectious and the groove non-stop.

“The High Priced Help II” is a re-creation of the quartet of U.S. Army aviator pilots from the 174th Assault Helicopter Co. known originally as “Four Majors and a Minor” then as “The High Priced Help.”  The group met at Fort Benning, Georgia and in March of 1966 were sent to the Republic of Vietnam; stationed at Lane Army Heliport, west of Qui Nhon.  The group of officers entertained for the units of the 14th Combat Aviation Battalion, at hospitals, clubs and in the field.  The songs were composed and performed to relieve the stresses of daily combat.  Marty Heuer is the only original performer able to be at LZ Lambeau, so he’s enlisted the help of his brothers and some friends to sing these songs again.

Kelly Trudell writes songs with a message- real, emotionally deep and spiritual. After hearing about the way her uncle was treated when he returned from Vietnam, Kelly made it her mission to raise awareness of the Vietnam veterans’ diligence in serving the needs of our vets returning from Afghanistan and Iraq. “The Vietnam vet has a tenacious spirit. They want to ensure that "never again" will a soldier serving his country be treated with disrespect.”
